Whatever your design style these foolproof paint colours will work in your home.

I will break each colour down for you. so that making choosing one or more of these colours work in your home.

There is nothing worse than having to pick a paint colour. Let's face it can be so stressful. One of the biggest complaints I hear from people is they are never happy with their paint choice.

whether it's too dark or it's lighter than they thought it would be or it looks more blue or green than they thought.

It's important to know undertones of the paint you are selecting, the lighting in the room and what colours are you pairing with your paint colour.

These things all effect how your paint will look on the walls when the room is complete.

Okay now let"s get into the foolproof interior paint colours you need to try in your home.

1. Simply white by Benjamin Moore

Why you''ll love it

A classic, to me this is the foolproof white. It looks clean and fresh, has just a hint of warmth but never reads yellow.

It looks great with dark wood tones, light wood tones, and even when paired with warmer colour palettes still looks soft a creamy white but never yellow.

Simple white is hands down my number one choice. Try on cabinetry, kitchen, bathrooms and bedrooms.

This is the white you pick when you can't decide on a white.

Chantily lace is a designer choice but to me its to bright white and Swiss coffee has more creaminess to it so in some spaces it can read a little to yellow.

Making simply white the perfect white. If you can't decide on a white get a sample of simply white paint a swatch on the wall. 9 times out of 10 simply white is a win.

where your should use it

To me simply white could be used anywhere in your home. From walls to kitchen cabinets, molding and even interior doors. It's just the perfect white for any space.

  • slight yellow undertone
  • Lrv 92
  • best finish eggshell
  • Pairs well with everything, but great with dark wood tones, blacks or if you want an all white space it Pairs well with many other white, beiges or off-whites.

2. Alaskan husky by Benjamin moore

well if you are looking to add colour to your home but don't want anything to crazy I highly recommend Alaskan Husky it is a pale grey with a slight blue/green undertones.

This colour is light and crips. It's a cool tone soft blue grey but for some reason has a warmth to it.

Pair this with warm toned wood like walnut, with accents of warm grey and creamy white to make the perfect colour pallet for a washroom, kids bedroom, or laundry room.

Alaskan husky looks so beautiful in sun filled rooms this is such a calm relaxing colour.

Pair this with whites and keep it bright and airy feeling or pair it with warm rich wood tones to pull a little more of the green out and it just looks spectacular.

why you will love it

It's calm feeling it looks fabulous in bathrooms or bedrooms it's a subtle way to add colour with out it being to overpowering.

I used this in my main bathroom mixed with cherckerd floors and gold accents it was perfection.

I plan to use this in my laundry room at my new home. I'm thinking alaskan husky on the walls, paired with a warmer checkered tile flooring, tan cabintry with warm wood countertop and some vintage sink.

Then cream and beige stripped wallpaper the ceiling. Honestly, that colour combo chef kiss!

I think this colour would look great in a powder bath with black and white flooring and a dark walnut mirror and gold finishes.

  • pale grey slight blue/green undertone
  • LRV 67
  • egg shell finish ( if you go with a more glossy finish like satin or gloss it will pull more green on walls)
  • Pairs with cream tone, beige , warm wood and looks fantastic with black and white accents.

Hot tip when choosing your finish the more shine your colour has will reflect more of the undertone in the colour.

Example alaskan husky looks more soft grey when a flat or eggshell finish but if you choose a satin or gloss it will pull more of the green undertone out, because of the way the light reflects it.

3. Balboa mist Benjamin moore

I love this colour so much, It's the perfect greige colour.  It's cool from the grey but warm from the beige.

This to me looks great in a living room or home office. It's a perfect colour to paint your interior doors.

It's that perfect mid tone neutral colour that doesn't look to 90's yellow biege.

  • lighter greige colour with hint of violet under tone
  • LRV 67
  • flat or eggshell finish if you swatch it and it seem abit dark have it lighten 20% it looks softer grey and will look better for rooms that don't get enough sunlight.
  • Pairs nicely with whites, blacks and dark rich wood tones. Looks great with hale navy from Benjamin Moore they compliment each other really well.

Looks good with rich brown Burgundy tones as well.

4. Hale navy by Benjamin moore

If you are thinking about painting a room dark well but thinking you want to go safe with like a grey don't try hale navy buy Benjamin Moore.

This colour looks amazing when you paint as an accent wall or a full room like I did in my basement I did trim doors walls all hale navy.

Surprisly it didn't feel dark at all and its dark enough to look grey but has this nice navy blue that comes through hands down my favourite cool tone dark colour.

I also love this on cabinetry paint your basement kitchenette or your kitchen island this is the best colour cause its not to blue but not to grey either.

  • Dark blue with predominantly grey has a hint of green as well
  • LRV 6
  • flat, eggshell or gloss
  • Pairs well with dark wood, greys, whites and beiges. Pairs great with balboa mist.
  • If hale navy is to blue try soot by Benjamin Moore its blackened grey with a blue undertone.

5. Misty grey Benjamin moore

Okay this colour is for the ones who want light and bright but not white lol.

Honestly, this colour on it's own to the average persons eye reeds white however, it has the softest grey undertone and its perfect for those wanting something other than white.

misty grey is also for those wanting grey but are never happy with the grey they chose on for the walls.

This is light bright but has that grey undertone which honestly is perfect I never met anyone who didn't love this colour.

Why you'll love it

It's a grey that doesn't lean blue and I think that's the problem with a lot of greys that people choose is it looks too blue.

This is also a perfect colour to paint your home to get it ready to sell if you don't want white.

Read all about my tips on how to get your house ready to sell here

It goes with anything and just the perfect choice if you have a hard time choosing paint colours.

  • Light cool tone grey with a slight blue undertone
  • LRV 82
  • eggshell or satin
  • pairs great with white for a bright, crips clean look. but also looks great with light wood like white oak it adds some warm to a very cool tone colour.
  • won't make your red oak floors look more orange which a lot of greys can do.

Hot Tip if you have an older house Or have a new build with red oak hardwood and stair case and don't want to make it look anymore yellow or orange this is a great grey to use for that.

Simple white will also work with red oak floors.
