Here you will find everything about how I created my hipstoric home office.
Basically this new design style Pinterest has named hipstoric is mixing modern and vintage styles together a little heavier on the vintage and some cool unique decor or art pieces.
This style is a fun one! because you can honestly mix any pieces together. This style is very eclectic so find fun lamps add new and old pieces.
Hit the thrift stores, Facebook market place, or antique malls, and find some fun furniture decor or art you can style in your space.

My Hipstoric home office
Back story we recently moved from our modern town house into a 950sqft basement apartment. we will be living here for about 6 to 8 months til our new build bungalow is ready.
Well now that I'm a 'blogger'' I still needed an office space to work on the blog. You can check out my old home office here.
Our apartment is all open so I new I would have to create zone in this space and the first area on wanted to work on was the office.
Tip even if you don't have walls to divide each space you can create them with rugs furniture, you can even use Ikea bookshelves to divide your space, folding dividers, or even curtains you just have to get creative when working in a open space.
For this apartment I new curtians and dividers wouldn't work. It would make the space feel to small, it is a basement. so I went the furniture route.
You will see more of how I didn't that in future posts when we get to the living room and kitchen.
I started with a mood board I new I really wanted the design style of this apartment to be modern vintage and wanted it to feel warm and invited and not the cold empty box that we moved into.
I already new what my style was for this apartment, but if you aren't to sure your style or just how to put things together I would definitely, head to Pinterest to gather some ideas.
My mood board was creating in canva I have the pro version but you can do a lot with the free version too.
Here is my mood board for the hipstoric home office
I know I wanted to go with a gallery wall, they fit my design style and add interest too. I can't paint the apartment so adding a renter friendly gallery wall using commands strips really adds texture and interest to an empty wall.
Here are some pinterest Inspo pictures I love this one with the organic gallery wall and the books on the floor. I loved the idea of a record player, and I new I wanted a vintage lamp.
I ended up using a lamp I had, but still on the hunt for a dome shaped Tiffany stained glass lamp. For now this lamp I got at the local thrift store for $9 is doing the job.
I spent the past few months gathering decor items for my hipstoric home office. The desk I already had from my last office but it was grey so I used minwax gel stain in espresso and it turned out perfect. I highly recommend it no sanding super easy to use and it looks like a brand new desk for $15.
I added these flameless candles, and candle sticks to the desk links at the bottom of this post, some books and a vase I painted brown with some babies breath flowers, I feel like these flowers just scream vintage lol.
I had an old vintage stool I got at the thrift store for $6 I used it in my renter friendly bathroom makeover you can check that article out here
I placed it beside the desk and added a record player I got for valentines day on top.
This to me is what makes this hipstoric design style so cool. even though it's a new record player from amazon it's vibe is vintage this is such great juxtaposition and I'm here for it.
Of course my first ever record had to be Taylor Swift and I also used the record in my styling, again it adds to the cool factor.
I stacked the books on the floor beside the desk and added a plant on top for some colour. I think I would like a few more books but this is good for now.
Fun tip: If you try this Hipstoric design style, add some thing interesting and fun, like antique gum ball machine, or some unique wall scone or object, even old phone or type written would be neat as well.
I still would like to add a wall scones to the empty part of the wall but still looking for the perfect one. Or even a small guitar hanging would be so cool.
Another helpful tip: A space can always be evolving you can add more pieces as time goes on, and you can switch things out.
Thats the best part of styling a space nothing is permanent.
Moving and adding new pieces can add new life to a space you already decorated.
With all the vintage elements I already had and the desk is modern I really wanted to go with a modern chair as well but kept everything else more vintage but added a few newer frames to mix this up.
voila!!! our historic home office space is complete! I would still like to add a few more pieces but I think for now it's perfect!

It looks lived in, organic, a little moody, and so warm.
With a lot of the items from marketplace and the thrift store the office was very affordable as well.
I hope this encourages you to try Pinterests new hipstoric style. Mixing modern and vintage styles really is a great way to decorate your home.
It really creates a relaxed feel to your home and I think its a style here to stay.
